Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine

Protect Yourself Against RSV

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can cause cold-like symptoms such as a cough, runny nose and sore throat. While RSV is usually mild, it can sometimes cause more serious infections such as pneumonia, particularly in older adults and people who are at increased risk.

At Cyncoed Pharmacy in Cardiff, we offer a private RSV vaccination service using Abrysvo. Vaccination can help protect against lower respiratory tract illness caused by RSV.

Our RSV vaccination service is not suitable if you:

  • Are breastfeeding
  • Are acutely unwell or have a fever
  • Have an evolving neurological condition
  • Take medication that means Abrysvo is contraindicated

If you’re unsure whether the RSV vaccine is suitable for you, please contact us before booking.

How Much Does the RSV Vaccine Cost?

The private RSV vaccination costs £220 per dose.

As the RSV vaccination is a single-dose vaccination, the full course is completed with one appointment.

Why Consider the RSV Vaccine?

Vaccination provides a way to help reduce your risk of serious RSV-related illness.

RSV is very common and often causes symptoms similar to a cold. However, it can sometimes affect the lower airways and lungs, causing more serious illness such as pneumonia. Older adults and people with certain underlying health conditions are more likely to experience complications.

For pregnant patients, the RSV vaccine helps pass protection to the baby before birth, helping to protect them from serious RSV infection during their first 6 months of life.

Can I Have the RSV Vaccine With Other Vaccines?

The RSV vaccine may be given alongside some other vaccines where appropriate. If you’re planning to have multiple vaccinations, please check with us before booking to ensure they can be given together.
