Period delay medication, also known as menstrual suppression or hormonal contraception, is a method that allows individuals to intentionally delay the onset of their menstrual period. It involves the use of hormonal medications, such as combined oral contraceptives or progestin-only pills, to regulate the menstrual cycle. This approach can be beneficial for various reasons. Firstly, it provides convenience and flexibility by allowing individuals to plan their periods around important events or engagements. For example, someone may choose to delay their period during a vacation or a special occasion. Secondly, period delay medication can be helpful in managing menstrual symptoms such as pain, heavy bleeding, and mood swings. By suppressing the menstrual cycle, these symptoms can be alleviated or reduced. Additionally, for individuals with medical conditions such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), period delay medication may be prescribed as part of their treatment plan to manage their symptoms. It is important to note that period delay medication should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional to ensure its safe and appropriate use.
Our period delay treatment is suitable for adult females aged between 16 and 50 years who are not already taking the contraceptive pill.
The short consultation with the pharmacist will ensure that the medication is suitable and safe for you to use.
Period delay tablets work by mimicking natural progesterone levels to keep them raised. This stops the womb lining from shedding and delays your period.
If you want to delay your period, you should start taking the medication 3 days before your period is due. You need to take the tablet 3 times a day and it can be taken for up to 17 days. Your period will start 2 or 3 days after you stop taking the tablets.
After a consultation with the pharmacist, you will be supplied with either Norethisterone 5mg tablets or Medroxyprogesterone acetate 10mg tablets.
Our period delay service costs just £15 with the cost of the prescribed medication calculated at the end of the consultation according to the type of tablet & quantity required.
