One of the most impactful areas where small changes can make a big difference is how prescriptions are ordered, processed and collected.
As digital healthcare services become more widely used, we will soon stop the collection of paper prescriptions from EPS-enabled GP surgeries. This change reflects the wider shift towards electronic prescribing and helps us focus our time on patient care within the pharmacy, while also reducing unnecessary paper use and travel.

The NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is designed to make prescribing and dispensing simpler, safer and more efficient.
The Electronic Prescription Service allows prescriptions to be sent directly from your GP to your chosen pharmacy without the need for paper copies.

If you have not yet nominated a pharmacy, our team can support you in setting this up. Simply email cp602679b@wales.nhs.uk with your full name, date of birth and consent, and we can record your nomination to our pharmacy.
As more GP surgeries and patients move over to electronic prescribing, we will be stopping our routine collection of paper prescriptions from surgeries.
For most patients already using EPS or the NHS App, this change will have little to no impact on how you currently receive your medication.
However, for those still relying on paper prescriptions, we encourage you to switch to electronic options where possible to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted service going forward.
